Advanced AutomotIve PlastIcs

Today, automakers worldwide are taking up the use of new materials to reduce the weight of a vehicle to comply with government regulations. It is believed that using traditional metalworking approaches for weight reduction is not going to serve the purpose alone. A rather radical approach is to employ plastics or composites extensively. To meet U.S. and European objectives for greenhouse gas emissions for 2020 and 2025, car road loads must be reduced by 30 percent, according to an estimate from IHS Automotive.

By 2020, an average car is expected to incorporate nearly 350 kg of plastics. With car glass and interiors already having adopted plastics and composites, the auto industry now is looking at ways to use these materials in body panels. To help car makers deliver the next generation of lightweight vehicles, Advanced Automotive Plastics will take place on 24th of January 2018, bringing all stakeholders together in one small-scale and specialized conference to discuss this hot industry topic.

The event will take place on 24-25 January 2018, in Berlin, Germany.
